With the Training Benefit you help your employees to continue training and growing professionally. The Salary Sacrifice plans including training courses allow employees to save in the payment of income tax corresponding to the value of the training.
Tax limits and exemptions
There are three different cases:
If the course is related to your professional activity, and it is deducted from the salary as Salary Sacrifice, then it will be fully income tax exempt provided that it is directly or indirectly financed by the company.
In this case, it is the employee who bears the cost of the training course, since the company pays in advance, but then deducts the proportional amount of the financed course from the salary as salary sacrifice.
Furthermore, as it is considered remuneration in kind, it is subject to its general limits. The total amount of remuneration in kind should not exceed 30% of the employee's gross annual salary, and the salary in cash must be higher than the minimum guaranteed interprofessional wage (SMI).
Also exempt are the amounts relating to travel expenses from the work centre to the training centre borne by the company within the limits established by tax regulations.
In the event that the course is not related to the professional activity, this benefit will not be exempt from income tax.
Finally, if the course is related to the professional activity but is fully paid by the company, it is considered an expense and the company can deduct it from its corporate income tax.
How to activate and set up the benefit
Follow the steps below to activate the benefit:
- Click on the “Activate benefit” button. The system will redirect you to the set-up form.
- Review and adjust the settings to choose how you want the benefit to work. These are the Training set-up options.
- Click on the “Save and activate” button. The system will save the settings and activate the benefit.
Once activated, the personnel assigned to that group of employees will be able to use the Training Benefit with the settings you have selected.
Approve Training Requests
All training courses must be approved by the company's human resources department before they are attended, and it must also indicate the number of monthly salaries in which they are to be paid and whether the company bears part of the cost.
You can view all your training course requests in the "Requests for benefits" link in the Benefits section.
Go to the Training Benefit section in the “Requests for benefits” section, and you will find a table with the list of courses requested by your employees.
By clicking on each request, you can see the course details, the employee details and the status of the request. In addition, you can approve or reject the course, depending on whether it relates to the professional activity or not.
